Hi all...
Is there a workaround that anyone knows of that will allow me to restore a database on SQL SERVER 2000 with a backup from SQL SERVER 2005?? I have this situation where I need to do this and I get that ugly error about too many backup devices and only 64 allowed...blah blah blah....
Help...and thank you!!! 😀

if you just need some data, why not just restore it anywhere you have space and copy the data

You cannot restore a SQL 2005 backup onto a SQL 2000 server.

You can make use of Database Publishing wizard to perform the same. There is an article about this which might benefit you,

Thank you Deepak for sharing this article. It is good to have something from MS for "Moving SQL2005 db to SQL2000 db".
I used Red Gate SQL Data Compare to sync a SQL2005 database back to SQL2000 a year ago. I just noticed that they have feature to "Compare database backup files as if they were live databases".
May worth a try. There is a 14-day free trial available on their site.
