1) Is it possible, or logically sound to put 2 Fact tables in a single cube?
2) Is there a page somewhere out there dedicated to focusing on the steps you should take when architecting your cube (prior to development). Kind of like steps that would guide you through the questions you should be asking and the avenues to take to produce a sound cube?
Thanks in advance for your help, Scott

If you need a site concentrating more on design isuues rather than the physical building side, you might want to take a look at;
http://www.rkimball.com/html/articlesbydate.html
Ralph is seen as the guru of datawarehousing and has written some really good articles and is especially honest in poiting you to likely problems. the site is spread a bit wide, but if you go through the articles you can form a complete picture.
As for your question of two facts tables, I don't know if it is possible or not. I cannot see the point in having two fact tables as this defeats the object of OLAP. If you want two fact tables, I would suggest creating two seperate cubes and joining them together, perhaps as a virtual cube.
If you let me know your reasoning I might be able to help you out more.

In AS2K you can't have 2 fact tables in the one cube, as Jonathan pointed out, to do this, you create 2 cubes and then create a virtual cube over the top of them. If you want to get a similar result but using one two physical cubes only (ie no virtual) you could create calculated measures that use the LOOKUPCUBE function to query the 2nd cube from the first. Performance isn't always the best when doing this. From memory this restriction is lifted in AS2K5 (Yukon AS). I would argue that there is occaisionally a need for 2 (or more) facts in a cube -> actuals and budget figures are a prime example.
