I just have 1 question for the SQL Server community. Which sql server version and edition I can download and use it for free on my work laptop?

SQL Express can be downloaded and redistributed for free. Naturally, it does not come with a full set of capabilities.
You can also install an evaluation copy, which will carry all of the Enterprise Edition functionality, but will automatically die in 180 days.
Developer Edition is relatively cheap (<$100 US, I think), if you want to do research, build an application, or other non-production type activities.

Yes, you can use that one for 180 days with all features.

Well, I was able to download it with no problem but I don't know what .iso extension is and how to run the .exe?

iso is a CD/DVD image. Either burn it to a DVD and use that or get a program which can mount iso files as virtual drives.

ISO is an extention for a DVD. You can burn the ISO to a writable DVD or use a DVD-ROM emulator to access the ISO as if it was inserted into a DVD player. Search the internet for a DVD emulator, there are plenty of them. Perhaps you can even find a tool to extract the data from the ISO without an emulator.

Done.
Thank you so much everyone for taking some time out to help me....
