I presented my session – Working with Very Large Tables Like a Pro in SQL Server 2014 – in PASS Summit 2014. The session was also presented live on PASStv. I was very excited and honored to speak in front of people of the SQL Server community from all over the world. I had a lot of fun, and I hope that those of you who attended the session enjoyed it too.
I talked about the challenges involved in working with very large tables, and demonstrated ways to overcome these challenges and manage these very large tables like professionals. I specifically demonstrated the ascending key problem, the WRITELOG problem and the index rebuild problem. In order to solve these problems, I presented some of the new and exciting features in SQL Server 2014, such as the new cardinality estimator, incremental statistics, delayed durability and online index enhancements.
As promised, here are the presentation and all the demos I used throughout the session. Feel free to download and play with them, and if you have any questions, shoot me an email.
See you next year in PASS Summit 2015…
