As I annouced earlier, Oracle and database expert, Bert Scalzo and I collaborated on an introductory text appropriately titled Introduction to SQL Server, which is self-published. The book is intended to be useful for someone new to SQL Server, typically an end user who is faced with getting data out of Microsoft SQL Server. In order to gain some press and advertisement for the book, we're looking to give out 1-2 copies to technical user groups who would give away the book as SWAG at one of their meetings. If you are an officer of a SQL Server, Sharepoint, Microsoft.NET, or related user group and you'd like a couple of copies for your user group, please email me at kbriankelley {at} acm {dot} org with a subject along the lines of "User Group SWAG." If you're hosting a SQL Saturday (thanks, Chris Shaw [blog | twitter], for pointing out this oversight) or Code Camp and you'd like a couple of copies, we can do that, too.
I've already sent this out to the PASS Chapter Leaders list and I've gotten a lot of response back that I'm compiling now to start getting the books in the mail. The reason I make mention of that is if you are an official chapter of PASS and you don't know about the Chapter Leaders list and aren't getting any emails related to that, let me know. I'll put you in contact with the right people at PASS HQ to get you on the list. Likely you also need to be given access to the Chapter Leader Only portion of the PASS HQ website, too.
