Had a message waiting on my phone this morning that there was a system upgrade available. Interesting, think it’s the first time I remember getting one. Clicked to do it and it seemed to be taking a long time to do, postponed so I could do other things. Later thought I’d run it at lunch, but it said I didn’t have enough power remaining (nice feature). So…figure I’ll try it at the office, faster download to drop it to PC and then sync – in theory.
Search for blackberry software update, find the site, prompts for a download that then requires a reboot. Yuck. Do that, nothing starts up automatically, don’t see anything new. Back to the site, this time wants me to run an add-on, this in turn starts the update. Backs up my stuff (to somewhere), starts the update, seems to go pretty good, tells me the radio will be disabled. Then on task 11 it says connecting to device, might take 30 minutes to complete. What could take 30 minutes on a phone?
Waiting…
Look over at phone, seems to be doing something finally. Maybe 10 minutes? Now restoring my stuff. So I guess the backup was so it could wipe and re-image? On to task 12 of 12. One warning, something about Twitterberry could not be restored.
Other than that, all went well.
