PASS asked all speakers to update their blogs with news about the event (a good idea), so here's my post!
I'll be doing one sesson this year titled 'So You Want To Be a Manager'. I'm going to talk about the reasons many of us want to move into managment, how to prepare for it (few of us do), and talk about some of the hurdles new managers encounter - many in the context of real stories that happened to me! My goal is to get attendees to really think about whether management is the right step for them and if it is, to understand that it's a career change. Tech skills are important but secondary to becoming a good manager. Basically you're starting over!
I enjoy doing the professional development talks and always learn as much as I give, if not more. If you're there hope you'll come by and participate.
