SQL Saturday South Island, New Zealand (SSSI)

,

G’day,

Saturday 8th April 2017 will see the biggest ever SQL Saturday South Island New Zealand. The event started in 2013 as SQL Saturday Christchurch and has progressively grown in size.

Originally run solely by the Christchurch SQL Server user group, the event expanded in 2015 in order to combine other local SQL Server user groups on the South Island of New Zealand.

In 2016 SQL Saturday South Island New Zealand ran it’s very first pre-con session with John Martin ( b | t )  of SentryOne  – which proved amazingly successful.

This year the event has attracted two MCMs and 10 Data Platform MVPs

SQL Saturday South Island New Zealand will run four tracks with 20 speakers – you can find more details here http://www.sqlsaturday.com/614/eventhome.aspx

This year, the event aims to build on that success with two pre-cons – both delivered by Microsoft Data Platform MVPs.

Reza Rad ( b | t ) will run a Power BI pre-con – ‘Rookie to Rockstar’. This has been run around the world in various cities with great success.

In fact, I’ve actually been on it myself when it was delivered as part of SQL Saturday Brisbane in 2016.

Warwick Rudd  ( b | t ) will also be on hand to present his pre-con ‘A guide to HA/DR, that can save your bacon’

If you simply want to come along for a day of free training on Saturday 8th April 2017 then you are more than welcome – we’d love to see you.

If you do fancy coming along then please register  – so we know how many lunches to get – and we’ll see you for a great day of learning.

I’ve been involved with this event since it started – but last year I moved to Melbourne – although, I’m still heavily involved with the event and I’ll be making the trip across the Tasman.

Leaving Christchurch meant the SQL user group needed a new leader and SQL Saturday South Island a new organizer. Fortunately, I was able to talk Hamish Watson  ( b | t )  into it. He’s done a fantastic job so far with the most registrations we have ever had – lets hope they all turn up!

have a great day

Cheers

Martin.
