Something BIG in Boston - SQLSaturday#71

,

BIG in BOSTON

Last time, I blogged about the first upcoming event in the North East in Philadelphia, PA – SQLSaturday#69, but now let’s move North to New England, to a place where everybody knows your name. J Now that the Patriots are out, and Baseball season seems miles away from a deep freeze of what many are calling the “Snowpocalypse” as the big event of the season, we must have warm thoughts of a date not too far into the future.  That date, when all is said and done, is Saturday, April 2, 2011. And hopefully a warm spring day that will be!  Whatever the weather, flowers are sure to bloom, and that four-letter word melted away – snow!  The White Monster will yield to the Green Monster in Fenway Park, and we’ll know spring has FINALLY arrived!

Come on up to Boston, Massachusetts for a one awesome and fantastic day of SQL Server learning, lunching, networking, fun and prizes!  SQLSaturday#71, is sure to be a huge event.  Indeed, this will be BIG in Boston.  The event will be held Apr 2, 2011 at Microsoft, 201 Jones Road, Waltham, MA. Admittance to this event is free, but they are asking for a voluntary donation of $10.00 for food so that they can provide breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack, all with healthy choices in addition to the usual.  Believe me; you cannot get this kind of quality training for ten bucks from some of the world’s top SQL Server MVPs converging in one place!  Please register soon as possible to reserve your spot - seating is limited.  Do tell all your friends and colleagues about this upcoming event.  Bring your family, and hang out at Boston’s famous places, and check out things to do in Boston.

The leads for this extraordinary event are some of our favorite well-known SQL MVPs (who I’m sure will give a presentation of their own), out of the Greater New England Area.  They are:

The scary looking dude, fondly known as the “scary DBA”, SQL MVP, President of the Southern New England SQL Server User’s Group and newly appointed “product-evangelist” for Red Gate Software, Mr. Grant S. Fritchey (I added the “S” for Scary :-); The “who-is” of “who-is-active” monitoring, SQL MVP, and President of the New England SQL Server User Group, Adam THE Machanic;  Then in the other corner, we have SQL MVP, Director-at-large, Board of Directors at PASS, President of the Hartford SQL Server User Group and SQL Server expert for Ignite 8 of Confio, Thomas SQLRockStar LaRock (too many titles dude :-); And finally, last, but not least, Mike “Seacoast” Walsh of the Seacoast SQL Server users Group.  That’s a lot of user group power coming together here.

Ding, Ding, Ding….Let’s get ready to r-u-m-b-l-e!  No, wait a minute, that’s the WWF :-O.  OK, I digress, but this certainly sounds like a great tag team event.

According to Grant Fritchey, the event is filling up super-fast, so if you don’t want to be “banned in Boston”, you ought to register as fast as you read this: REGISTER NOW!  In fact, Grant says that, “We’ve had a successful event for two years and we’re going to make it three!”  They are expecting over 300+ in attendance, and dare I admit an event that may rival SQLSaturday#59 in NYC?  It’s like the Yankees vs. the Red Sox, with a twist of SQL J.  They say, if you can’t beat them, join them (that’s why Grant accepted the position at RedGate – just kidding!)  That’s why I’ve been scouting for sponsors and speakers for those guys up there, and proud that WhereScape will be joining them in Boston, as one of its Gold Sponsors.  I’m working on some others who swore they were interested, and I will not name them here, because I’m trying to be pragmatic, and also, it’s eNtirely up to them if they want to miss out on such an extraordinary event, and tons of qualified interested leads.

Other sponsors who have already committed, no surprise, our Friends at RedGate - another Gold Sponsor, Idera, and SQLPass to name a few.  For a full and updated list of sponsors (and how to become one), see the event’s sponsor page here: SQLSat#71 Sponsors.

You can keep up with the latest news, updates and gossip, by following this event on Twitter, using hash tag #sqlsat71.   I will continue to bring you some updates as well, on the PearlKnows blog.

Now, Grant deserves a lot of credit here, he’s been extremely busy with everything else going on in his SQL world, but, I am sure he has an excellent Execution Plan to pull it off!  After all, he wrote the book on them. J

This is not an event to miss!  See you in the City of Boston.  Cheers! 😉
