SQL Server Magazine has just published its annual salary survey. I don’t really recall how they did it in past years, but this year they used a lot of ink talking about career satisfaction as well as money. There is a sidebar where they discuss the lack of female DBAs, only 13%. Also, it mentioned that women are less satisfied with their DBA careers than men are. That was surprising to me. I think becoming a DBA is the best thing I ever did. But, I can see that this career would not have been as easy when my children were small because of the number of hours worked each week and the odd times that some of the work must be done. It is also interesting that a couple of the most respected names in SQL Server, Kalen Delaney and Kim Tripp, are women.
I may have to change the name of my blog. Aunt Kathi just found out yesterday that she is going to be Grandma Kathi.
