Hi, all! Hope everyone had a great weekend!
I was preparing my Blog for today on a subject I believe that would be useful to all DBAs having issues with scheduling an SSIS package under the SQL Job Agent. It's not as straightforward as you'd think, without understanding the security layer introduced in SQL 2005, and that is what I was writing about. Keeping in mind Blog etiquette (length), I submitted it to Mr. Jones for consideration for article publication on the main SSC.com site. It included several screen shots, so hopefully we'll get it up there soon, and I'll get the information to you at that time. (I know he's monitoring the blogs, so hope I didn't jinx it :O )
Other things I'm working on are the MVP Profile of the Week, and coverage of Brian Knight’s 'Intro to SSAS' presentation.
I am also working a write-up on SQL Server Forensics, taking a real look at the mechanics of the 'holy-grail' of SQL, the transaction log. It will will be revealing in that you will literally learn to read the t-log like the big 3rd party vendor's do it for their auditing/log recovery software. With the advent of SQL 2008's CDC (Change Data Capture), I no longer feel that I am revealing the magician's secret :-).
More specifically, we'll learn the application of computer forensics and analysis techniques to gather database evidence, based on one of the best presentations that I've even seen on the subject, by one of the industry's leading expert's on database security. He is considered the leader in Information Security, and author of a best-selling book on the topic.
