Part of having 501c(3) status is figuring out where and how it might make a difference. Applying for non profit status with PayPal is one of the experiments. It took about 5 minute to apply; needed the tax id, a copy of the letter from the IRS, and a bank statement. I just got the approval back (just over a week I think):

That changes the rate from 2.8% to 2.2%. If my math is right that would be save about $60 if you raised $10k in a year. Worth doing? Especially if you’re raising less? Given that it takes only a few minutes to set up and no extra effort after that, I don’t see a downside so far.
