Finally, PassTV  will give its final farewell from the Charlotte Convention Center, as this successful East Coast Summit concludes with a bang!  Once the convention center empties out, and the lights go dim, attendees will move out and return to their everyday lives.  For all the learning, networking and fun, so many of you will be fulfilled and inspired in your personal career paths and goals for the future.  The high will only last but a short time, but a lifetime of memories to share with friends and colleagues will remain forever.

What is it that you will do now?  Well, my final question to my SQL MVP panel of participants in this Highlight Q&A series, is “What are our experts currently working on?  Let us know about any upcoming articles, books, presentations, projects, etc”

Grant Fritchey posted his own series of on the scene blogs, and was invited to blog on the Woman in Technology luncheon yesterday at PASS Summit 2013.  He also covered the Summit Keynotes on Day1 and Day2.  Definitely check them out!  

So, Grant, what are you doing after the PASS Summit?

“I'm supposed to be writing a new edition for my Execution Plans book, but I've been a little remiss in getting it going. I'm writing a chapter for a project that isn't released yet.
I'm also writing several chapters for another project that's not released yet.

I'm ALSO taking part in a project with [Cluster MVP/SQL Server expert] Allan Hirt (@SQLHA) and [SQL MVP/SME] Denny Cherry (@MrDenny) that I'll let them announce and talk about.” 

Not for lack of trying, I ping Denny, who didn’t reply, and Allan, who said we’ll just have to wait for the “Big” announcement, and can see it on his own industry blog, SQLHA.com.

Jack Corbett, is writing an article for SSC on Trusted Foreign Keys and still working on his existing Introduction to Extended Events session that he frequently gives at user groups and SQLSaturdays

Mattias Lind, just moved to Claremont AB, “an IT management and BI company in Sweden where my role is more of a Microsoft Data Platform Specialist & Architect. With that said I'm involved in a few projects making data closer to the consumer. Besides that I try to get my blog back up and running, deliver training and writing.”  

Erland Sommarskog is “working on that article on error handling, yes! Well, not right now, and probably not before December, but I have made progress during the year.”

Kathi Kellenberger, who is a Sr. Consultant for Pragmatic Works “is currently working on an entry level SSIS book, and have been doing SSIS work all year for the same customer.”

Rick Heiges, SQL MVP and Solutions Architect at Scalability Experts , just recently, prior to Summit 2013, finished and delivered a keynote for SQL Saturday 250 in Pittsburgh.  Rick gave the opening comments on what’s new in SQL 2014, focusing on features Hekaton and Buffer Pool Extension of SSDs, which are among Rick’s favorite features. You can see the Highlight Q&A discussion on what are our panel experts’ favorite features for SQL Server 2014.

So, Rick how did the keynote in Pittsburgh go?

“It is different than delivering and developing a technical presentation.  I believe it was successful. “

Speaking of SQLSaturday, if you’re local or sticking around in Charlotte through the weekend, just when you thought it was safe to leave the convention center, a perfectly timed and FREE event for those of you who can’t stop the SQL lurnin, and interested in SQL BI, SQLSaturday#237, BI Edition, will take place tomorrow October 19, 2013 in Charlotte! 

Located not too far at Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC), Levine Campus, 2800 Campus Ridge Road, Matthews, NC 28105 (located in South Charlotte)

The Charlotte BI Group (CBIG) is excited to bring the 2nd annual SQL Saturday, BI Edition, to Charlotte.  This SQL Saturday training event is focused on Microsoft Business Intelligence, Analytics, and Data Administration topics.  We'll have sessions at varying levels, on a variety of subjects such as: ETL, Data Visualization, Self-Service BI, Data Quality, Master Data Management, OLAP, Big Data, SharePoint, Data Management, as well as plenty for the SQL Server Administrators out there!
