Microsoft has released new cumulative updates for both SQL Server 2008 SP1 and SQL Server 2008 SP2. Remember, both of these are completely separate from SQL Server 2008 R2 (which is considered a separate, major release from SQL Server 2008).
The first cumulative update is SQL Server 2008 SP1 CU12, which is Build 2808. It has 14 fixes, by my count. The second cumulative update is SQL Server 2008 SP2 CU2, which is Build 4272. This CU has 28 fixes, by my count.
This is one of the more relevant fixes:
FIX: Slow performance when you recover a database if there are many VLFs inside the transaction log in SQL Server 2005 or in SQL Server 2008
Of course, I would argue that you should be monitoring and controlling your VLF counts in each of your user databases to avoid this issue completely, but it is nice to see a fix that addresses the issue at least somewhat.
