It’s been a busy month of September, and I’ve been getting feedback from the busy world of SQL Server MVP’s and professionals all over the world. These days with social networking, email and the Internet, we’re all one big happy virtual community, and that goes double for us SQL Server/DBA types.
As always, I want to try to bring some unique aspect to my contributions to the SQL Server community at-large, and sometime that includes, well, talking about others’ contributions.
One busy and engaged individual is regular columnist and contributor to SQLServerCentral.com and SQL MVP Jacob Sebastian. He is also MSDN Moderator, PASS Chapter Lead, PASS Regional Chapter Co-coordinator–Asia, CTO at Excellence Infonet. Professionally, he has over 10 years of Database Administration, Application Development and Project management experience, specializing in areas of Health care, Warehouse Management, Business Intelligence, Sales and distribution, Data import export, SQL Server optimization/performance tuning.
Since he’s so busy giving great value to all of you, I decided to help give greater exposure to the things he’s been working on.
I have been talking to Jacob lately, but he’s been very busy preparing for a few BI classes, community techdays and a few other speaking engagements, such as 24 Hours of PASS, in which he was presenting his “Tips and Tricks for writing SET based queries” (If by the time of this writing, you were unable to attend, he assures us that the recorded version will be available at PASS website soon.)
His 24-HOP presentation focused on exposing some of the tips and tricks for writing efficient TSQL queries that solves common business problems using a SET based approach. His session included dozens of TSQL demos that presented a number of ways of writing TSQL queries. The good news about his PASS presentation is that all the demo scripts shown there are now available for download on his blog site as well.
Jacob maintains his active blog site called “Beyond Relational”, where you can have access to useful scripts, whitepapers, and discussion forums. Jacob even interviews and profiles other MVPs, so it’s his turn in the spotlight, and deserves honorable mention.
You can also post your questions there on all things SQL Server, and browse others. Chances are that Jacob will reply directly to your posts! Please visit and be sure to bookmark his blog!
You can also see his excellent and ultra-informative articles on SQLServerCentral.com here: Jacob’s SSC Articles.
Jacob, thank you for your contribution! Keep up the excellent work.
