Ran across this post from Mark Russinovich titled The Machine SID Duplication Myth that seems to debunk the idea that SIDs need to be changed when cloning a machine. That isn’t to say that there isn’t work that has to be done via Sysprep or similar, but apparently the SID itself doesn’t cause a problem. Fairly far outside my domain, the only imaging I do is with a RIS server and that process does whatever magic is required, but thought it interesting that all wasn’t as it seems here, to the point that he had written a utility to fix a problem that wasn’t really a problem.
