I know I'm not the first in the SQL Server community to post this, but Ken Henderson has passed away Sunday evening:
Ken Henderson - We Will Always Remember You (SQL Server Manageability Team blog)
I learned a lot from Ken Henderson's Guru's Guide books. They were awesome and covered areas that other authors hadn't. But as good as his books were, I think a single presentation of his made a bigger impression on me. A few years ago, when I was attended the PASS Summitt in Orlando, I was able to get in on one of his presentations. It was a packed house, standing room only. He went over a ton of things including how extended stored procedures used memory internally within SQL Server 2000. It was one of the best techie presentations I ever attended and I've attended some great ones.
My condolences go out to his family and friends. The SQL Server community has lost a great source of knowledge and information, but their loss is greater, for obvious reasons.
