Just got back from attending IndyTechFest in Indianapolis, IN, which was held on Saturday, October 4, 2008, and had nearly 500 attendees. This event is the product of a collaboration between IndyNDA (Indianapolis .NET Users Group) and IndyPASS (SQL Server User’s Group). The main people behind this event include:
- John Magnabosco (his is now blogging for www.simple-talk.com)
- Brad Jones (MVP, author, and Senior Executive Editor at Jupitermedia Corporation, http://www.jupitermedia.com)
- David Leininger
- Mark McClellan
- Among many other volunteers
This is the second year this event has been held, and compared to other similar events I have attended; this is one of the most professionally managed.
The event included 6 tracks:
- .NET Today
- Enterprise Development
- SharePoint
- Business Intelligence
- Database Development and Administration
- Potpourri
I made two presentations.
- How to Become a Profiler Master
- Introduction to SQL Server Hints
Next year, I am told they want to move to a larger venue (to support an even larger crowd), and to add more tracks.
