Every day for the next couple of weeks, I aim to highlight one of SQL Server 2008’s new features, simply for awareness. You can then go away and research the area and report back to me, we’ll then discuss how these new features can benefit us all.

Resource Governor
Now this is functionality that Oracle RDBMS has had for a while and I’ve found quite useful in tha arena. Theres a lot of chat going on about the usefulness of this new feautre in SQL 2008.
It provides a consistent and ‘predictable’ response to end users. It allows organisations to define resource limits and priorities for different workloads, which then in turn will enable concurrent workloads to provide consistent performance to their end users – well thats the hope anyway !
Anybody have any success stories – or is this feature being over-hyped?
