Starting the summer 2002, for about a year or so, the team and I embarked on a project to develop business for local utilities giant Hydro Quebec, by developing a web site for the twenty-first International Commission on Large Dams' congress in Montreal, where it was hosted in 2003. One of the most interesting parts of this project involved the creation of a dynamic floor plan, with long-time collaborator and Flash Guru LordAlex Leon. It's amazing to see what Flash will do when you pitch it a boatload of data, without even a pageload to pass between form steps.
There is something I have always liked about Flash, so we decided to build some stored procedures that would load up a floor full of stands through decimal co-ordinate output to Flash Remoting (or a prior version). The goal was to be able to sell the floor space faster by enabling a the direct reservation online, or at least a step in that direction. In the end we know the approximate return on the investment was enormous for the number of reservations made online, thus I'm always waiting impatiently to jump on the opportunity to create another application with LordAlex that has great ROI for our clients.
BTW - LordAlex and Martin Arvisais just had a great turnout of more than eighty people for their Flash Camp here just the other week.
