Fiction review this week. I recently read Patriot Acts by Greg Rucka, the continuation of the story that started in Critical Space (highly recommended). The story picks up with our main man Atticus on the run for a murder he didn't do, and things go downhill from there. He's still teamed up with world class assassin Drama and that makes for some interesting reading. It's a dark novel, at least to me. Quasi government forces at work with evil agenda and his own journey to explore the dark side (shoulda listened to Yoda) don't make for a book with a happy plot, but he survives and it will be interesting to see if there is an upswing in the next novel, Walking Dead which just recently went on sale (though the title doesn't suggest happiness either!).
Before you buy one take a look at the chronology and decide where you want to start, but if you're flexible about starting in the middle read Critical Space. Nice plot, interesting to watch a character grow in a direction that while perhaps unexpected also seems like it was the natural evolution.
