Why SQL questions are interesting and how I'm using forums to challenge myself and help others.
I like a good SQL challenge. If I see a problem and it looks complex but do-able, I jump at it. Similar to how some people work through a crossword puzzle or a Sudoku puzzle, I find a good hard SQL task interesting.
Also, I like helping people. If someone has an issue at work, I’m more than willing to help out. As I said in my first post, if spending a bit of my time can help someone save a few hours of their time – that’s an exchange worth making.
Recently, I’ve started responding to SQL forum questions. It offers me both of the above – a way to help people while also challenging me to come up with sometimes complex solutions. So with this in mind, I’m going to, 2-3 times per month, profile one of the questions and answers. In doing so, I’ll show the problem, show my solution, and provide some insight into my thought process in coming up with my SQL logic.
The first installment of “Forum Fun” will be posted shortly. Stay tuned.
