SQL Saturday Boston is a training event for SQL Server professionals and those wanting to learn about SQL Server. This event will be held Apr 6 2013 at the new Microsoft facility at 1 Cambridge Center, Cambridge, MA 02128. Admittance to this event is free, but we do charge a lunch fee of 10.00 so that we can provide a lunch - not pizza! Please register soon as seating is limited, and let friends and colleages know about the event.
Please note that the event will be held at the Microsoft Conference Center at 1 Cambridge Center. This is the same block as the Kendall/MIT MBTA station. It's in the same building as the Marriott Cambridge. If you walk more than a block from either of these buildings, you have gone too far. SQL Saturday Boston is NOT at the Microsoft New England Research and Development (NERD) facility.

Great database performance starts with great database design. During the database design process it is important to select your datatypes wisely. The wrong choices will often lead to wasted space, increased response times, and less stability. Additionally you run the risk of having your design not scale as well as it should. Leave this session armed with the knowledge you need to help your databases perform at their peak efficiency.
Steve Simon: Database Design for mere developers
SQL Server 2012: Efficient and effective database design is so important that leaving it solely to the DBAs is simply not a solution. We as developers will more than likely have to create applications to access the data stores and as such must ensure that all application related considerations are taken into account within the database design.In this session, (aimed at software developers) we shall be touching upon several concepts of special importance to the developer. These include database development 'patterns and anti-patterns', final proofing of design and creating versatile deployment scripts that can and will be utilized in future endeavors.
