Great question. I have to admit I wasn't quite sure on the correct answer because it was converted to varchar(100) on the way in. But in the select query it was converted to varchar(200). But there was only 1 obvious choice.

To make this more transparent, I encrypt using session level symmetric keys and wrap a view around each table to provide the decrypted computed columns.
