Dear Forum,
We are changing our database server to a new server. And we don't have access to the old server.
The developers gave me the database file on a cd. It is a xxxxxx.sqldb file.
What are the steps for importing that information into my fresh MS SQL 2000 server? (That is the version I own). I wonder if my problem is that the database was originally made on the latest version of MS SQL and mine is way old and doesn't recognize the file?
Any advice you can give me or steps would be a great help.
Thanks
Jeff

It is very hard to tell - because the file extension does not tell us what kind of file that is. Is it a SQL Server backup file? Or is it the mdf (data) file? Or something else?
If it is from a later version of SQL Server, you will not be able to restore/attach it to SQL Server 2000. You can upgrade to a newer version, but you cannot downgrade to a previous version.
