I am looking for a tool to develop front ends applications to communincate with our SQL Databases. Just wondering as a community what are your favorites tools , I have no real experience with any tools except using Access as a front end. All suggestions or comments are welcome.

Access is my favourite for speed of developpment.
VB X is my favourite for control of all the data access which I can't have in Access. Depends on what is the most important to you!

I prefer to use VB 6 for development - as I don't like using Access and use it sparingly.

Might take a look at VB Express 2005. It's free!

Use either VB 6 or VB dot net along with respective ADO components ... extremely powerful and flexible .. and as some one else has already mentioned VB express is a free tool ... if not familiar with dot net suggest you look at this site

Nothing has ever yet come close to the speed of development of Powerbuilder. It's a shame that they were too stupid to price it competitively at a time when it could have ruled the world.
I still shudder at the thought of having to use VB/visualstudio/.net or ADO/OLEDB/whatever (I have programmed in all those environments).

C# .Net is the way to go.
I have developed in everything from COBOL to FORTRAN, and VB3 to VB .Net and I have found that you can hardly beat C# for fast and flexible development.
VB6 was excellent in its day, but just try and purchase it.
