[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver] Timeout expired

    Hello -

    I am getting this error when just trying to connect to query analyzer.

    [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver] Timeout expired

    It was working fine yesterday.

    If I go into ENterprise manager, I go down to databases and it will not expand databases.

    I have restarted SQL server and done a complete reboot multiple times.

    Any idea what could have happened??

    HELP!!

    Did any of the configurations change?

    Try using the command line OSQL.exe to connect and troubleshoot

    osql.exe -S SerververName -E

    If that does not help try starting the SQL Server from the command line using sqlservr.exe

    I have seen this happen with certain models of servers, when SQL Server is practically idle- you can check your firmware is up to date (if SQL itself looks ok).

    when you connect to the db server. you can use ip address instead of servername. It's an other way

    to connect the database server.
