  Suddenly, SQL server 2000 becomes unresponsive and throws the following error:

  Error: 9001, Severity: 21, State: 1

  The log for database 'tempdb' is not available.

  After the sql restart, things are back on track. pls help

  you should have checked for previous logs as well. see if you find anything in eventviewer.

  it can be tempdb full issue but not certain. also what is the tempdb recovery mode and autogrowth n all.
