Hi
I've used this product (version 6.5, 7, 2000 and 2005) for years and never encountered this issue, nor can I find any option settings or built-in HELP to solve it. When I initiate a OPEN command from FILE menu, regardless of what directory I select, the content is no longer in alphabetical order. The order appears to be random or on some field that isn't obvious. This causes a LOT of lost time having to search file-by-file to locate the desired one. I do not have this issue with Windows Exployer or with the 2005 version of Query Analazer. The problem is local to the version 8 copy. I've closed and re-started the application and re-booted the PC without change to this issue.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

When you click File | Open I most likely is defaulting to the list view.
switch to the details view. That should show you which column the window contents are being ordered by. If you sort it by name, and open a file, the sort should stay that way when you Click File|Open the next time.

I've seen some strange behaviors with dialogs in Vista, but not in my 2000 client.
Has anything fixed it? If you select details as the view and order by a column, does it stick if you close and reopen the client?
