First dance at your wedding...

  • Ok so the thing is, Im getting married in a week and like most (old skool) IT Geeks, I have two left feet and the rythmic ability of a pinapple.

I have spoken to the band and got them to learn 'Rascal Flatts - Bless the broken road', (real slow lovey ballad)...

Question: Should i just stand there and sway, or move in circles? That being the case, should we spin (on the spot) or move around?

Very scared... 180 people will be watching. :w00t:

  • my mom went wedding crazy so i had to practice with her for our dance

i'm like you and glad it was over very fast

  • The secret to dancing is to not giving a flying rat's patootie what you look like while dancing. No, it won't make you dance better, but you'll have more fun. Focus on that. Have fun.

  • lol i'm getting married in 2 weeks and i'm terrified by this whole 1st dance thing! I'm actually going to have lessons next week though so fingers crossed 🙂

    Good luck 🙂

  • Just have fun. After the stress of getting through the wedding, grab an adult beverage and enjoy the time with your spouse. Ignore everyone else.

Its a good idea, but I'm Jewish and anyone (who is Jewish and has been the groom) can tell you that there is absolutely no rest. You have to walk round, talk to everyone at every table.... and remain sober! (all this means no food)

And then when thats over you have the speaches :w00t:

And then the dancing! I am looking forward to the break from work, but could do without the stress.

Thanks all for your kind wishes. Have a good weekend. 🙂

  • I probably had 1 (or 5) too many Guinnesses by the time it got to the first dance. It was only a couple years ago, but I can't remember how I danced (Guinness effect probably).

In truth, I doubt people remember how you atually dance but just enjoy the fact that they are there with you.

Hope you had a great day 🙂

  • Not knowing if your intended is a good dancer, but as a lady, I would go with the 'sway'. Nothing worst than trying to control a really bad dancer whose determined to impress. Let your dear lady wife dictate the pace.

  • Thanks to all for your messages.

Seems such a long time ago now (24/8/08) but it was a really great evening and all went well.

And for those of you interested.... I went with the 'sway', slowly turning round. Apparently everyone thought it was lovely.

    Thanks again.

    Adam.
