Sql Server installation

    hi all,

    Is there any possible way to install Sql Server 2000 on OpenSuse(Linux)

    Nope, windows only.. Now if you were running VMWare (or another similar package) on a SUSE host with a windows guest..

    What's there to elaborate? SQL runs on Windows Operating system only. It is not possible to install it on any version of *nix.

    Elliott's talking about virtualisation, the ability to run one operating system almost as an application on top of another Operating syste, Common virtualisation apps are Hyper-V (windows host), VMWare (multiple options)

    SQL server only runs on Windows. You cannot install it on any other OS. It can be Windows Mobile/CE to Data Center server and everything in between, but it will not run on any other OS.

    The other poster referred to running a hypervisor and virtual machine software like XEN, VMWare, etc. on your OpenSUSE. Then you can install Windows in a VM and run SQL Server.
