RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.

  • What is your question? Does Google pay better? They might, but it depends on the individual.

  • In my neck of the woods they're known for creating large campuses with perks that "go into the compensation package": on-site doctor/dentist/dietitian, free cafeterias, entertainment centers/gyms, etc... all on the Google campus. At the same time, they seem to hire a phenomenal amount entry-level folks who tend to get paid somewhat lower than average wages (meaning - since they already get all of these other perks, the take home pay is somewhat lower since the overall package is so much richer than usual).

Of course - that doesn't necessarily say anything about the "upper echelon" positions.

    Your mileage may vary.

Your lack of planning does not constitute an emergency on my part...unless you're my manager...or a director and above...or a really loud-spoken end-user..All right - what was my emergency again?

  • No matter what, the grass is always greener on the other side.
