OPINION:
If you are calling a COM object from TSQL, then you have the WRONG solution to the problem.
The only usefull COM object that have I seen is to write to an MS Que.

Yes, there's a performance penalty.... But, if it is something that is not done often and can only be performed by a COM call, then by all means, do so
