Hi All,
My problem is We are having an online server and i want to connect to it using Enterprise manager.
*Note: I am able to connect using Query analyser.
In Enterprise manager i am right clicking on my production group and then selecting a New SQL Server Registration. I am doing this process through SQL Server Authentication Mode.
After that i am getting this message
SQL Server Registration Complete
TimeOut Expired
An then i am selecting the properties and giving the password for that server then i am getting this error.
SQLServer Registration failed because of the connection Failure displayed below.
TimeOut Expired.
Help me to solve this problem.

It seems like an authentication/connection issue?
Can you ping the host server?
Can you configure an ODBC connection to the source using the account you're trying to use to register the SQL Server?

Hi,

I am able to connect it using query analyser and that user is working with other systems.
Mine OS is 2000 server and the server is which i am trying to connect is 2003 server will it make any difference.

It may be just a slow connection, and Enterprise Manager is timing out before it is able to complete the registration fully:
Increase your Enterprise Manager's login timeout threshold.
Open Enterprise Manager and go to 'Connection Settings' (Tools -> Options -> Advanced).
Increase the 'Login time-out setting as required (seconds) to 20 or 30 seconds to prevent the time out.

Hi,
Thanks for your support, initially it was 4 sec i have increased it to 20 and now i have registered it successfully.
I learned one new thing today.
Thankyou.

Please check the latest MDAC installed in your machine if exists, then better install SQL Server client tools once again.
