Log reader is failing with a red cross on it.

    The step did not generate any output. The step failed.

    SQL2K SP2on both Publisher and Subscriber.

    Remote Distributor (on the Subscriber).

    Transactional.

    Continuous.

    I've had replication set up for couple of databases. But the logreader is failing. It cannot talk to the subscriber I think. The connection is timing out may be. Whats

    really strange is that if I restart the agent, it will work fine (transfer

    data) for anywhere from 15 -20 minutes, and then suddenly crap out.

    I gave the trusted connection in publisher properties. I tried giving user name and password also.

    I gave Administrative link password also. That section says Publisher must use this password when connecting to the Distributor. I don't know where to give that password in publisher ..

    I know it is related to connection issue. IF anyone know about this please help me.. Its very urgent

    Have you tried having the Distributor on the publisher ??

    No. I couldn't make publisher as distributor. But I fixed my issue. It was all login issue.

    I was giving distributor as trusted connection. But it wasn't a trusted connection. After I tried with user name and password in properties, it worked fine.
