Hi,
We are having a difficult time with the Full Text Catalog feature with 2005. Does anyone know if there is something that needs to be set up initially for this feature to work? Presently, I have stopped and restarted the service and the agent in 2005 and the users are still complaining that they are unable to search fully. I read that you can turn this feature on at the server and db level, but have not located anything else.
Any ideas?

Maria,
By default Full Text searching is not enabled on each database unless you override it when the database is set-up. To enable this feature in the SQL Management Studio:
1. Pick a database and right click on it.
2. In the 'Files' section of the properties window, make sure the 'Use Full-Text Indexing' property is checked.
OK, the properties window to make it go away, now, in the database you enabled FT Indexing on, go into it and right click the table you want Indexed, there should be a 'Full-Text index' group, you will need to define your index and then enable it, followed by the population.
