I'm merge replicating some rather large (7Gb) databases across the Internet between two locations. When I create the push subscription (pull doesn't work at all) the subscription is created but status starts out "Deactivated" and never is activated. The initialization from the snapshot proceeds but invariably gets interrupted when the subscriber server declares that "the remote server is not defined as a subscription server." Which it is not; it is the publisher server.
I can replicate with no trouble between servers on the same LAN but this seems to fail even though they are all part of the same domain.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This error will appear, if you never registered the the computer by it´s
exact name, which you want to define as a subscriber (don´t define only the
IP adress!). The main database server (where the publication is running)
needs the exact name of the subscriber computers!! Then it look fine:)

I was afraid that was it. I'll have to do some DNS modifications but that should do it. Thanks!
