Stop SQL2K Rounding

  • Does anyone know how to stop SQL2K from rounding [smallmoney] columns when CAST and returned in an sp? For example, "select boy + CAST(age as varchar(7)) + ' is years old' from mychild" It will return 3.38 instead of 3.3750.

However, if you just "select age from mychild" it displays 3.3750. Does anyone have any clues?

  • Try this, instead...

    "select boy + REPLACE(STR(age,7,4),' ','') + ' is years old'

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.
