Hi
I have a giant database of 199 GB, where 90 GB can be found in the ldf. Due to the size of the db, the hard drive now only has 9.95 MB free. Naturally this is way to low and thus the response sucks.
I want to move the ldf file to another hard drive, but the I am not able to access the 'databases' tab in Enterprise manager. Everytime I try, I get 'Not responding' in task manager.
Can one move a database ldf without the use of detach?
Can one delete the ldf by command line in query analyser?
I have set a maintenance plan, but acn not execute this due to the response.
Hope anyone can help?
Best regards

I'm not aware of a way to move a log file without detaching the database and you can't delete a log file as long as the database is attached. Have you tried using sp_detach_db in Query Analyzer rather than trying it in EM?
