I know that this is a personal subject, but we don't have to speak in exact terms here. I am just wondering on the different pay ranges for DBAs, based on experience and location. So, if you don't mind, can you give a range of your salary, how many years you've been a DBA and where you work/reside. I'll get the party started.
Worked with SQL for about 4 years now, but Junior DBA/DBA for 2 of those 4 years. Residing/working in North Carolina. Salary Range ... mid to upper $50K.
Thanks...Chris

In Denver, 2 years ago I was $85 for a senior. Had offers around that time from $80-$102.
Mid level was prob 60s-70s, but Denver is fairly expensive to live in.

Thanks for the reply, Steve. Do you have certifications? I heard that they bump you up quite a bit. True?

Do not forget bonuses, benefits etc.
Normally bonuses are counted for the surveys. Some of the benefits may be counted and some are not. So if your paycheck $60K and average bonus $5K then the survey most probably would say $65K.

I'm an MCSE, but not an MCDBA. However they can help. I haven't seen them bump salary so much as some companies require it. I have over a decade of SQL Server experience, so it doesn't matter too much to me.
Bonus was 15% target for me, rarely did I get there. In fact, I'm one of those that has rarely gotten a bonus at any job

There is good salary survey in December 2005 issue of SQL Server magazine. They provide very comprehensive analysis by location, title, experience, by age, etc.

Actually the salary also based on which company you work for. From all my experieces working over 10 companies, most BIG companies salary and benefit are worse than the small companies ?!
