Hello,
We have SQL Server 7.0 as our database and wants to migrate to SQL Server 2000. Wants to know what all things need to be checked before doing this. Also, what are problems during this migration and what is best way to do it.
Is there any link which explains how migration should be done and pre-post migration issues/precautions?
Thanks in advance for all your help,
Ramesh.

Microsoft did a really solid job with the SQL Server 7.0 to 2000 upgrade. Read the upgrade notes here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/instsql/in_upgrade_5jw3.asp
Pay special attention to the "Upgrading Databases from SQL Server 7.0" portion and the "Backward Compatibility" portion. You will want to test the items they have highlighted in these two articles fairly extensively on a development environment before upgrading.
Once we tested, the actual conversions were extremely smooth. Upgrading 6.5 to 7.0 or 2000 was a completely different story.
