Sr. SQL Server Database Administrator
Location: Plymouth Meeting, PA
Salary: Open / DOE
The primary function of this position includes support of all database activities including design, development, performance tuning and maintenance. The tasks will be performed in conjunction with in-house development initiatives, as well as, the implementation and ongoing support of deployed third-party enterprise software.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Design and document data models.Design, implement, and optimize relational database components.
Work in conjunction with software development to provide database support throughout the software life cycle, including SQL creation and optimization.
SQL data manipulation and data definition script authoring.
Maintain and upgrade database hardware and software.
Schedule and monitor the maintenance and backups of all databases.
Hands-on database management, ETL processing, data conversion and manipulation.
DTS experience preferable.
System and application performance monitoring, benchmark establishment, and capacity planning.
Ensure database availability and security.
Manage test and production environments setup, coordination, and migration strategies.
Requirements:
Bachelors degree or equivalent experience required
Must have 5+ years of supporting MS SQL Server database and applications in an enterprise application environment
3+ years of professional business systems development (analysis, design, and programming) experience, preferably in a complex systems environment.
Professional database administration certification (MCDBA)
Mortgage or financial services industry knowledge a plus
Experience with mission-critical database applications in environments with a large number of end-users (500+)
Expert working command of SQL language.
Expert thinking in technical analysis and troubleshooting situations.
Thorough understanding of software development environments, and the DBA role within those teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills necessary.
Must work well within a team.
