I have two SQL 2000 sp3a servers on different machines of very similar specifications.
One uses a collation of SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS
and the other Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS. The Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS runs some queries 3 times faster (11 seconds vs. 34 seconds) using the same database (coppied from other the machine). Has anyone noticed dramatic speed differences between collations, I have heard that there are some difference in the way some collations effect searchs eg. binary ?
Any input would be appreciated.

I would also like to know of any reasoning or experience. I have two SQL2000 servers running SQL_Latin1_General_CPI_CI_AS and Latin1_General_CI_AS* with differing speeds including Optimization and general querying. The databases are almost identical.
*I think the previous email was about Latin1_General_CI_AS as well as I don't think there is a "Latin1_General_CPI_CI_AS". I made the same slip!
