I have installed a SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition on Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition. Once Installed I rebooted the box, SQL Server Service Manager appearing with "SQLServername - not conneted" and no services
listing under.
What could be the reason for this? Is anyone faced similar problem?
Then I installed the SQL Server Service pack 3a. Then the Services are
appearing on the SQL Server Service manager.
Is that Service pack 3a resolved the problem? If so what causing this problem.
In past I have installed SQL Server 2000 Standard / Enterprise on Windows 2000 / 2003 boxes and never witnessed this problem

Its possible that you have not enabled TCP/IP protocol support for your SQL Server. Execute SvrNetCn.exe and enable TCP/IP. The SvrNetCn.exe is located under C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Binn.
