This question may have been asked before and I apologize for repeating it. Just can't find it when I search for it:
When I open a database diagram created by another user, it opens blank... I can create one and re-open it.
I re-installed SP3a with patch 819.... (our standard at the moment @ work)
What gives?

Are you sure it's empty. I've seen it where you have to use the scroll bars on the screen to find the objects.
Let us know.

There are no scroll bars. We even played with the "zoom"

check for rows in dtproperties table
select * from dtproperties
if there are no rows in dtproperties table, then you cannot open the diagram

There are rows in the table.
I can open the diagram from another WS, but not mine.
As I mentioned I re-applied SP3a with Security patch MS03-031. Did not work.
Do I have to re-install SQL Tools?

According to this page, http://users.spark.net.gr/~yiapap/bldiagra.htm, seems that it is caused by ADO 2.8. I haven't tried it yet.

Just a follow up, the fix from the link works. You will have to close EM and reopen it for it to work.

OK this definitely DID NOT work for me -- this is what I'm running...
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 - 8.00.194 (Intel X86)
Aug 6 2000 00:57:48
Copyright (c) 1988-2000 Microsoft Corporation
Developer Edition on Windows NT 5.0 (Build 2195: Service Pack 4)
I am using .NET 2003.
Old diagrams open with nothing to see, new diagrams work for a while and then disappear the same way. Why is that?

First, your SQL Server version sould be at least 818, which is SP3a with MS03-031 patch (a MUST to protect yourself against the Slammer virus). Try that and see...
Second, my guess is with a conflicting DLL from .NET.
I'd try the MSSQL update first...
I am running .NET 2003 AND I can see the diagrams no problemo.....
