Good day! I was wondering if anyone has troubleshooting information on the IE Media Bar. Ever since I installed Service Pack 2 for Windows XP the Media Bar disappear and is no longer functional. Was this part of the SP2? The "Explorer Bar" option in the "View" toolbar doesn't even list the Media Bar anymore. I have "Search, Favorites, History and Folders." No Media? I definitely enjoyed videos and music opening up in the active IE window, so I'm a little skeptical whether or not this feature is available anymore. Please advise....... Any information would be helpful. Thank you for your time and efforts.
Sincerely, Michael

Found this through a Google search.

Security in Internet Explorer 6
To help improve security, Media Bar has been removed from Internet Explorer 6. For this preliminary release of SP2, however, the Group Policy settings for Media Bar have not been removed. Because Media Bar is no longer available, these settings will not function.
Although you can no longer use Media Bar, you can listen to digital media by downloading and using Microsoft Windows Media® Player 9 Series.

Well Well Well - Thank you very much "Grasshopper" for locating an explanation to my question. This disturbs me in a way though. I am a bit upset they removed the Media Bar from IE. It seems like everytime I get use to something it changes next week. Very very disturbing. But, who am I? Just a fraction I suppose. I hate adjusting my ways due to someone's brillant idea. Yet it doesn't matter we all gotta live with it. 50 happy / 50 pissed the hell off! Eventually I get over it. Thanks again "Grasshopper!"
I think I'll go "change" my shorts now.

Have you tried using Mozilla Firefox instead of IE? You can download (free) at
http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/
Besides being smaller, faster, and possibly safer you can get extensions such as FoxyTunes 1.0 from https://update.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?application=firefox&id=219 and I quote:
"Now you can control your favorite media player without ever leaving the browser and more...
Supports WinAmp, iTunes, foobar2000, Windows Media Player, Musicmatch, Quintessential, J. River, jetAudio, MediaMonkey, Media Player Classic, Sonique, wxMusik, Real Player, XMMS, Noatun, Juk, Amarok, Music Player Daemon, Rhythmbox and many other players."
