Hi,
I have a query regarding the index tuning wizard. I dont know why it lists me all the tables even if i give a specific workload (i.e. .sql file). Is it a design flaw by MS? Any ideas?
Thanks and Regards.

hmmmm... good question, i'd go as far as saying the reason that it does this is because it's not very good .
It might be a good starting point for the beginner but to be honest i've always been able to come up with better suggestions than it ever did, maybe that's why they call it the index tuning advisor in 2005?
Sorry, i don't mean to belittle your experience (which i hope i haven't done) but I tend to treat this as a tool for before and after analysis rather than expecting it to come up with anything decent.

Hey Mike,
Thanks for the inputs. I have not yet used SQL 2005 so dont know much about Index Tuning Advisor.
But one more thing is one can't solely rely on Index Tuning Wizard because my experience with ITW shows that it doesnt recommend proper indexes. Sometimes its do suggest but sometime nothing because recently I had to fine tune a query which is used in my ERP database. The table has more than 100 columns and the query was taking around 179 ms to execute.
I tried to tune this by ITW and you know what it didnt even recommend me atleast one index!!
Regards,
Dilip
