My company generally uses MDAC 2.7.
Question: is there any reason(s) to upgrade to MDAC 2.8?
TIA,
Bill

MDAC is not upwards compatible ?
I have been using it since it came out and have not experienced any issues.
We recently released a new GIS system into our SOE and it would not work with 2.7 clients.
Then again, there may be some good reason to upgrade - I can't remember what the new release was for - something relating to security.
The proper and full info about MDAC 2.8 is located at http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=828396

The systems fine with no users loggged in. Can we keep it that way ?br>

If you use W2003, you do not have any choice about using MDAC 2.8 - it is the version shipped with W2003.

I had a serious problem with the Enterprise Manager which was fixed by the installation of MDAC 2.8.
Whenever I tried to open a database, the server connection was lost. Unfortunately I have not been able able to ntrace the root cause of the problem. Perhaps one of the many Windows updates installed had this unfortunate side effect?
Moral, don't trust anybody. Especially Auto-updates from any source.
