how to get back table with data aafter deleting it

  • my developer has deleted the table from enterprise manager and i  had last day backup of database now i want to restore the table to the point from where it was deleted I want full contents of table when it was deleted i dont have todays backup how to proceed ?

  • You can proceed (in a complicated manner) if the database was in full or bulk-logged recovery mode AND you've taken regular tlog backups.

    If the table was in simple recovery mode then I'm afraid you're stuck.  The last full backup is your only choice... restore it to another database and DTS the data across.

  • If that happened on a production box, I suggest reviewing your security and permission policy and have an interview with that programmer

  • As McCork states if you have full recovery activated then

    backup current log

    backup full database (just in case)

    restore database from previous backup (last day backup)

    roll forward log

    Frank, is that your halo slipping but then you've never done that eh!

  • O tempora, o mores

    To every thing there is a season

    From The Bible, Old Testament Ecclesiastes iii

    To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

    • A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
    • A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
    • A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
    • A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
    • A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
    • A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
    • A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
