Top Urgent Question

  • I am using Idera SQL Diagnostic Manager
    It monitors one database.
     
    The size of the DB file is 16GB(Used), 13GB(Unsed)= 30GB
     
    the log of the DB file is 18GB
     
    The sql diagnostic manager monitors and show that the log file is nearly full (occpied 80%)
     
    the data file is occpied 57%
     
    I think it is top urgent to addrss this issues
     
    any idea to me???????
     
    why it said it is full
     
    are the data file and log file supporting unlimited growth??????????

     
  • Try running a backup to clear out the log file.

  • that mean i backup the log, then truncate the log(delete the log)

    is it what you mean?

  • I'm not exactly a guru but I thought part of the process of backing up a database was clearing out the log file.

    Go to Enterprise Manager, right click on your database, select all tasks, back up database, name the backup, and run it.   I think that will clean up the log.

    It can't hurt...
